Internet Usage in Turkey
31% of the citizens in Turkey do not have an internet connection at home because the prices are not affordable. According to the “Household Information Technologies Usage Survey” conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute, 83.8% of users started using the internet at home in April 2018. In the same month of 2017, the rate was 80.7%.
Internet Usage Rates in Turkey
According to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, 82.5% of the citizens have broadband internet use at home. 44.5% of the households with internet connection access the internet via fixed broadband connection (ADSL, VDSL, Fiber) and 79.4% via mobile (GSM).
Apart from the internet usage rate in households, it is seen as 87.7% for men and 77.5% for women in the 16-74 age group.
Online Shopping is Increasing
Citizens ordered or increased their purchases of goods and services via the internet for personal purposes, the rate of citizens aged 16-74 who shopped online this year was 44.3%. Rates were 36.5% last year.
According to female/male genders, the rate of shopping or receiving services over the internet is 48.3% for males and 40.3% for females. Again, this rate was 40.2% for men and 32.7% for women in the past year.
