Using Multiple IP Addresses on xDSL

7 January 2022

Using Multiple IP Addresses on xDSLWe have 2 different methods to Use Multiple IP Addresses in xDSL. As it is known , it is possible to use fixed IP addresses in individual – corporate Adsl , Vdsl and Fiber internet tariffs , but it is not possible to use multiple IP addresses.

In order to use more than one IP address on the same circuit at the same time , you need to have a  G.SHDSL Internet circuit. But unfortunately  , you can reach a maximum speed of 2048Kbps in G.SHDSL , and these values do not make much sense today and their prices are very high.

It is not possible to meet both our internet needs in the office and the needs of our servers over the same circuit.

We have 2 different methods to meet such needs.

Virtual Subway

Thanks to Virtual Metro , which is the most common method, we first carry our xDSL traffic to the datacenter, and re-direct the traffic to our own location by taking multiple IPs from there . This method, which is generally successful, is not the primary reason for preference due to its cost and complicated structure for businesses that do not have IT personnel.

Vivanet

Vivanet not only takes Virtual Metro technology one step further, but also allows you to get high upload and multiple IP in a more economical and practical way with its tariffs without Fair Usage Quota . You can see the Vivanet Virtual Metro and Multi IP application by following the images .

1- First of all, our cabin in our office

There are 2 AirTies 5650 Vdsl2 Modems in the cabinet, Mikrotik RB3011UiAS-RM to connect lines and make IP configuration , Dell R210 Server, Mikrotik CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN to distribute internet to the office and Mikrotik RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN to distribute hotspot to guests . .

2- We do the whole process on Mikrotik RB3011UiAS-RM

2 x 24/4 Vdsl2 lines combined in Mikrotik RB3011UiAS-RM provide a total of 48/8 Mbps traffic to the server and the office .

3- We Route IP Addresses

We route 2 new IPs from the Fly Fiber collection center to the fixed IP on the existing xDSL subscription .

4- We Route IPs to Server

We route the 8th leg of our ethernet via Mikrotik RB3011UiAS-RM to the IP  addresses  coming up to our office and connect our server to the 8th leg.

5- We Define the Address to Our Server

We have given our IP address to our server with VMware ESXi installed , in this configuration, the Interface IP of the line becomes gateway, while the subnet becomes 255.255.255.0 6- Let’s Test

We were able to access the server remotely, this shows that our configuration is correct.

7- Let’s Test on Windows

We create a virtual server in ESXi and give the second IP address to this machine. We have no DNS restrictions, you can use any service.

8- And Speed Test

The result of the Speedtest on the server

In this configuration, 2 x 24/4 VDSL2 combining copper circuit 48/8 Mbps, we reached the speed of the internet, the constants defined in the current IP in the office with defined extra while internet distribution 2 IP with one of the addresses ESXi We ran y, 2. address the  ESXi virtual we built into Windows Server We ran 2016 .

If we wish, we can provide the guest hotspot exit from there by introducing another IP address here . In this way, it is possible to use Multiple IP Addresses in xDSL.
