Internet Service Providers Pulling Their Own Fiber Infrastructure
Internet service providers pulling their own fiber infrastructure started to increase as of 2022. Today, around 20 companies are working on infrastructure in many provinces and districts of Turkey.
How Can You Build Your Own Fiber Infrastructure?
In order to create its own fiber copper or radiolink infrastructure, an internet service provider must first obtain Infrastructure Management Service authorization from the BTK (Information Technologies and Communications Authority). Infrastructure Operation Service authorization is divided into two as notification (B) and usage (K).
The companies that have the usage authorization purchase frequencies for themselves by making special frequency allocations and provide transmission with radiolink devices over those frequencies.
Businesses that have been authorized within the scope of the notification can only provide radio link service through free frequencies, and since these frequencies are open to the use of citizens, everyone can broadcast on any frequency they want. Therefore, it may not always be possible to provide stable service on frequencies that are subject to free use. In addition, operators authorized within the scope of the Notification can create their own infrastructures through fiber and copper cables. If they wish, they can create their own routes by digging on lands, forest areas, roads, avenues, streets and pavements by obtaining excavation permission from the municipality or the relevant local administration.
What is GigaFiber?
Internet service providers that pull their own fiber infrastructure generally plan to provide 1 Gbps internet speed, and TurkNet company named this service GigaFiber for the first time. Other companies have also started to use the same name.
Facility Sharing Companies
Internet service providers providing services with facility sharing model by creating their own infrastructure are limited in Turkey for now. The biggest of these is Türk Telekom. Apart from Türk Telekom, Türksat Kablonet, Turkcell Superonline, Vodafone, Grid Telekom, TurkNet and İsttelcom are the internet service providers that share the largest facilities.
Internet Service Providers Pulling Their Own Fiber Infrastructure
With the developing technology and increasing capacity needs, many internet service providers continue to work to create their own fiber infrastructure. Turkcell Superonline, Türksat Kablonet, Vodafone Net and TurkNet are the companies operating throughout the country, except for the resident operator Türk Telekom. These companies simultaneously carry out infrastructure works in many provinces.
