Is there Fiber Internet in the Village?
I was wondering if there would be fiber internet in the village, and I couldn’t stand my curiosity any longer and did some research.
First of all, I would like to talk about fiber internet types.
Types of Fiber Internet
Fiber internet types are divided into 4 types. These types are listed as FTTN, FTTC, FTTB and FTTH, respectively.
What is FTTN Fiber Infrastructure?
FTTN, or Fiber To The Node, consists of copper cable from the fiber cabinet placed between the exchange or the street to the customer. For example, a fiber cabinet is placed in the middle of the neighborhood and copper cables are distributed from this fiber cabinet to the streets, apartments and flats. We can say that the whole structure consists of copper. It is mainly preferred in ADSL technology and service can be delivered to long distances and this distance can be up to 2-3 kilometers. The longer the distance, the lower the speed capacities. FTTN, which is also preferred in VDSL, can be used efficiently at a maximum distance of 600-700 meters, since performance loss occurs as the distance increases.
What is FTTC Fiber Infrastructure?
FTTC, or Fiber To The Curb, works very similarly to FTTN in structure, but instead of telephone cables, coaxial (coax) cables, called antenna cables, are used. Another name is Fiber_C. This system, which works efficiently up to 300 meters, is actively using Türksat Kablonet (Uydunet) in our country and provides internet, television and fixed telephone services over coaxial cable. Depending on the characteristics of the devices, splitters and modems used with FTTC, internet speeds of up to 1000 Mbps can be reached.
What is FTTB Fiber Infrastructure?
FTTB, or Fiber To The Building, is a type of infrastructure that comes with fiber into the building and then continues as copper. This infrastructure can be implemented in 2 ways. In the most correct use, the fiber cable coming up to the building enters a switch and CAT5 or CAT6 ethernet cable comes from this switch to the apartment and enters the modem. With this infrastructure, which can be pulled up to a maximum of 100 meters, speeds up to 1000 Mbps can be provided depending on the switch, modem and cable quality.
In the other type of usage, after the fiber reaches the building, it enters DSLAM, and 2 wire copper telephone cables are drawn up to the apartment and internet access is provided by entering the ADSL or VDSL-enabled modem. Türk Telekom can provide FTTB service by positioning tiny field cabinets such as Type11 and Type21 inside buildings.
What is FTTH Fiber Infrastructure?
FTTH, or Fiber To The Home, is the highest level of the internet industry. In this infrastructure called GPON, fiber cable comes to the house and it is predicted that infinite internet speed can be reached with the developing technology in the future. Today, while 1 Gbps speeds are actively used in our country, GPON devices with 10 Gbps speeds have started to be produced in the world.
Which Infrastructure Is Used in Villages?
Is there Fiber Internet in the Village, which is the main topic of our article? As for the question, yes it will be 🙂
FTTN infrastructure is being established in the villages, and internet service is provided to the whole village, usually with a small field cabinet set up in the village square. Since the villages are small, a Type 11 fiber access cabinet is sufficient.
